  74.      You'll  receive  two disks.  The first will  contain  a  full 
  75.      working  version of KOZMIC_4,  registered in your  name.  The 
  76.      second  disk  will contain example pictures of  what  can  be 
  77.      achieved with a little experimentation.

  80.      get extra features in versions dated after August 1993.

  109. What you need to run the program:
  110.  
  111.      (a)  Atari ST/STF/STFM/STE with 1 Megabyte of memory or more 
  112.           and a double-sided disk drive.
  113.  
  114.           (STE  computers with more than 1 Megabyte will load  and 
  115.           use the Stereo samples as well as the mono ones.)

  118.      (b)  A colour monitor     (poor results with an ordinary TV)

  121. It  should  work  OK  on any version of  TOS  up  to  1.62  (shown 
  122. incorrectly  as 1.98 by some utilities).  It should also  work  on 
  123. Mega  ST's and Mega STE's but I cannot test this.  It  might  even 
  124. work  on the TT but,  for the moment,  it's incompatible with  the 
  125. Falcon.

  128. WHAT'S IT FOR?

  130. The  purpose  of the program is to  create  psychedelic  patterns 
  131. which  can be saved to disk.   No drawing skills are  needed  but 
  132. experimentation  is  required to increase the range  of  effects.  
  133. The Help options provide enough information to get  started,  and 
  134. further on-line help is available from most of the menus.    Some 
  135. possible  uses  for  the program:

  137.      Be artistic without having to be an artist.
  138.  
  139.      Load pictures into a paint program and edit them.
  140.  
  141.      Use  the screens as intro screens in your own programs  (just 
  142.      add text).
  143.      
  144.      Run psychedelic slideshows at raves, parties etc.

  162. LIMITATIONS OF THE UNREGISTERED VERSION

  164. There's only one. You may save only one screen per session. If you 
  165. want to save more than one then you have two choices:  Exit KOZMIC 
  166. and  restart  it and try again (tedious business) or send  me  ten 
  167. pounds for the all-singing, all-dancing, complete, updated version 
  168. complete with example screens etc.

  206. I  started  writing the program on my STFM (TOS 1.2)  upgraded  to 
  207. 1 Meg RAM.
  208.  
  209. This version was done using my STE (TOS 1.62) with 4 Meg RAM and
  210. Hard Disks.
  211.  
  212. It was written entirely in STOS Basic, compiled, fixed  for   Mega 
  213. ST(E)'s with STOSFX11 then packed with Pack Ice.
  214.  
  215. STOS  does  not allow  Drive  Letters beyond H - HD users beware.
  216.  
  217. The  INF  files are used for saving slide show  information  along 
  218. with  screens.   I  used  this method because  STOS  doesn't  save 
  219. colour-cycling  or  duration information with NEO  or  PI1  files.  
  220. Also palette-cycling or other info can be saved in the INF file.
  221.  
  222. I prefer to save in NEO format because De Luxe Paint doesn't  like 
  223. STOS's PI1 format.   By the way,  Dpaint hangs after saving to HD, 
  224. so save to floppy instead if you use it.
  225.  
  226. All  disks are copied with verify on.  Should any disk  be  faulty 
  227. please return it for a replacement.  If you have 1 Megabyte of RAM 
  228. then there may not be room for desk accessories of any size.  Boot 
  229. the  disk (press reset) if necessary to clear any .ACCs  or  TSRs. 
  230. This isn't a GEM program so you can't access DA's anyway...
  231.  
  232. Quick ST is incompatible with Kozmic and will corrupt the  main 
  233. menu screen so it must be disabled before running the program.
